Preventing Risks from Mental Workloads
(in German)
Under the German occupational safety and health (OSH) legislation, it is incumbent upon employers to design work in such a way that, as far as possible, risks to life and health are prevented and any residual risk is mitigated. In this respect, consideration is also to be given to the risk from mental workloads.
But when is it to be expected mental workloads will pose risks? How should and can work be designed in order to avert these risks wherever possible? What design challenges are encountered and what factors are important for the success of the design process? This publication conveys technically well-founded knowledge about
- risks caused by mental workloads, as well as design requirements and options for risk prevention,
- occupational safety and health requirements in the light of the relevant OSH legislation, regulations, and rules,
- design options for preventive work design within organisations,
- factors that help organisations deal successfully with risks from mental workloads,
- recommendations for successful design practice within organisations that have been tried and tested in the real world.
Following on from BAuA’s widely praised publication surveying the experience that has been gained of psychosocial risk assessment and making recommendations for its implementation, this book is intended for OSH experts active both within organisations and as consultants, as well as service providers operating in the field.
