Research

As a departmental research institution, we enable policymakers, practitioners, and the public to make use of knowledge. It is for this purpose that the scientists at the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin, BAuA) conduct independent, high-quality research. They identify possible risks to employees’ safety and health at an early stage – as well as opportunities for human-centred work design. They are focussed on the changes taking place in the world of work and the task of factoring in safety and health right from the start when technological and organisational innovations are introduced.

Research projects in focus

People with disabilities – making participation in working life possible

Hazardous substances in the workplace – advancing protection guidelines

How to keep work human in times of pressure and information overload?

Protection against machine noise – a simplified measurement method for practice
