Legal provisions on corona in the workplace

The SARS-CoV-2 Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (SARS-CoV-2-Arbeitsschutzregel) applies transitionally until 25 May 2022. After this date there will continue to be reliable advice available to organisations on how to protect employees with the "BAuA Recommendations for Action on SARS-CoV-2” (BAuA Handlungsempfehlungen SARS-CoV-2).

The SARS-CoV-2 Occupational Health and Safety Regulation was drawn up jointly by the occupational safety and health committees established to advise the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) in a process coordinated by the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA). It sets out measures for all areas of economic life that allow employees’ risk of infection to be reduced and kept at a low level. The requirements of the SARS-CoV-2 Occupational Health and Safety Regulation continue to apply transitionally until 25 May 2022. The SARS-CoV-2 Occupational Health and Safety Regulation is only available in German.

Pursuant to Section 1 (3) of the SARS-CoV-2 Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance (SARS-CoV-2-Arbeitsschutzverordnung, Corona-ArbSchV), BAuA supports organisations in protecting their employees. One of the ways it has done this is by publishing the "BAuA Recommendations for Action on SARS-CoV-2". This document provides information both about the infection control measures to be considered in workplace risk assessments and about additional measures that have proven their worth over the last two years. The "BAuA Recommendations for Action on SARS-CoV-2" is only available in German.
