DASA Exhibition: "Conflicts"

We are surrounded by conflicts - in politics, in working life, in the family. A new special exhibition at the DASA Working World Exhibition, Conflicts, looks at their nature and manifestations in order to explore the societal and cultural significance of conflicts and inquire into the various strategies used to resolve them. When and how do conflicts arise?

When is it worth starting a quarrel or taking a stand? And when is it time to seek compromises?

The exhibition is structured around a number of specially designed spaces, each one looking at a different aspect of the topic: Internal Conflicts, Private Conflicts, Conflicts at Work, Social Conflicts, and Conflict Theory. Visitors are able to discover media installations and objects that offer lively, surprising ways of getting to grips with these complex issues. The actor Marie Schöneburg introduces each part of the exhibition in a series of striking film sequences. There are also chances to join in, for instance by working out what kind of animal represents your personal conflict style. One exhibit of interest from a work point of view is Three Questions in Three Minutes, which features people describing the conflicts they encounter in their jobs and prominent public figures talking about what conflict means to them.

The exhibition is intended to shed clear light on how conflicts can be interpreted and managed. It is hoped this will, not least, encourage visitors to re-examine their own cultures of conflict.
