Description:
The BIBB/BAuA Employment Survey has been conducted regularly (every 5-6 years) since 1979. BAuA has been involved in the survey since 1998/1999 (as a partner since 2005/2006), which is reflected in a stronger focus on working conditions and their effects.
In the 8th wave of the BIBB/BAuA Employment Survey, 20,006 employed persons aged 15 and over with an average working time of at least ten hours per week were surveyed in Germany using computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI).
The results of the Employment Survey are useful within the frame of OSH-monitoring and further policy advising as well as for the science community. The data serves to continuously describe the world of work in Germany and documents changes in employees' working conditions and the demands they face. This enables the identification of areas for action in occupational safety and health.
As part of the project, a data visualisation tool was developed using the data from the 2006-2024 surveys. The tool offers users (without prior statistical knowledge) the opportunity to evaluate a variety of variables (e.g., working conditions, satisfaction, etc.) according to up to two different differentiation characteristics (e.g., age groups, gender, part-time/full-time) for individual or multiple survey waves. The results can be viewed as graphs and tables and are available for download.
Furthermore, several publications have already been published based on the data from the BIBB/BAuA Employment Survey 2023/2024 (e.g., on work intensity, physical working conditions, operational integration management (BEM)). In the first quarter of 2026, the data from the BIBB/BAuA Employment Survey 2023/2024 will be made available as a Scientific Use File (SUF) via the BIBB Research Data Centre.
