Informing, Advising, Sharing Experiences

REACH obliges manufacturers and importers to demonstrate how substances can be used safely. We support all of the involved stakeholders in the completion of their REACH-related tasks in the field of occupational safety.

The REACH Assessment Unit OSH has the task of advising manufacturers, importers and downstream users concerning their responsibilities and obligations in the area of occupational safety in the scope of the REACH Regulation.

For this purpose, questions about occupational safety are answered, which are set to the REACH-CLP-Biozid Helpdesk at BAuA. In addition, the staff of the REACH Assessment Unit OSH attend as speakers at information events held by the REACH-CLP-Biozid Helpdesk or at events hosted by multipliers. Additionally, events focussing on the topic of occupational safety are organised on the behalf of the Assessment Unit itself. Current topics of relevance to occupational safety in REACH are discussed by BAuA experts from BAuA, from other authorities or from the world of science and industry.

As part of the implementation of the statutory duties of the REACH Assessment Unit OSH, we contact companies, associations, employer’s liability insurance associations and representatives of other authorities. DE, for instance, has launched its own consultation process in which relevant information can be submitted when the various risk management options are assessed. We also exchange information on substances directly in expert discussions.
