Guidelines on the EMKG - Workplace and Chemicals

The guidelines provide a step-by-step explanation of the EMKG. This results in a measures category which is specified by protective guidelines or other standardised working procedures. The guidelines are intended for people who implement the EMKG. They are the basis for the proper application of the EMKG.

The EMKG assists you with the risk assessment in your organisation. In this respect, we offer you two guides that provide you with easily accessible parameters which support you in the assessment of health risks and hazards posed by fire and explosion. The EMKG 2.2. is available to you for the assessment of health risks due to inhalation or contact with the skin.

The EMKG Fire and Explosion Module is new. The assessment of fire and explosion risks with the EMKG has been possible in the form of a prototype since 2012. The improved module is now available to support you with your risk assessment.

EMKG guideline - health hazards

The guideline provides a step-by-step description of the inhalation and skin contact modules. The latest version, 2.2, has been supplemented by the additional module "Easy-to-use Workplace Control Scheme for Hazardous Substances and the new CLP Regulation". This means that the EMKG can also be applied to hazardous substances which are classified on the basis of the H-statements of the CLP Regulation (Regulation on the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures). The guidelines and additional documents are provided further down the page.

EMKG Fire and Explosion Module

In addition to the assessment of health hazards, the Ordinance on Hazardous Substances also requires the assessment of risks of fire and explosion. For this purpose, you can use the EMKG Fire and Explosion Module, which leads you to the necessary measures in your organisation over the course of five steps. The module has been improved and tested continuously ever since the development of the prototype in 2012. Further down this page, in addition to this guide, you can find the key developmental steps.
