EMKG - Workplace & Chemicals: Wheel Set and App

With the compact EMKG wheel set and app, you are able to gain a quick and straightforward overview of the possible risks in your organisation on site. Both are also suitable for communicating risks to superiors and employees.

EMKG wheel set and app summarize the EMKG modules fire and explosion, inhalation and skin in a compact way. Whether wheel set or app, both can be used in many standard situations at the workplace.

The EMKG wheel set and app provide a summary of the "Easy-to-use Workplace Control Scheme for Hazardous Substances - EMKG". For the risk assessment, you also require the information from the EMKG-guidelines - particularly in case of work at high application temperatures or in case of hazardous substances used in large-scale.

Guidelines on the EMKG - Workplace and Chemicals

So far, the guidelines are only available in German. However, the EMKG Software available in English also guides you through the EMKG systematically and provides many important explanations.

The easy-to-understand EMKG wheel set comes in a handy case and is available for the modules:

  • Fire and explosion
  • Inhalation
  • Skin

The EMKG wheel set allows you to quickly identify risks and to determine suitable control strategy levels. This EMKG wheel set is also ideal for use in seminars and during instruction. In combination with the practical examples, the individual steps of the EMKG can be shown in an easy-to-understand way.

Important Sources of Information

The most important sources of information are the identification label and the safety data sheet (SDS) of the hazardous substance; further information you can obtain on site at the organisation.

  • You require information on the H- or R-phrases (see identification label and SDS, section 2) and on the occupational exposure limits (OEL) of the hazardous substance (see SDS, section 8).
  • For liquids, it is necessary to know the boiling point or vapour pressure (SDS, section 9).
  • For solids, determine the dusting tendency during the activity at the workplace.

In addition, you need to estimate the quantity group of the hazardous substance used per activity.

Using the compact EMKG wheel set

Start with one of the EMKG wheels and carry out the steps described on it. In this way, you will derive appropriate control strategy to prevent fire and explosion and to protect the employees' health.

Depending on the received control strategy level, the EMKG wheel set refers to different control guidance sheets. These control guidance sheets help to implement the required protective measures and are available on our website.

The EMKG app

With the compact EMKG 3.0 app, the potential fire, explosion and health risks in your organisation can be determined quickly and easily on all mobile devices. The compact EMKG app provides the same application aides as the EMKG wheel set.

One advantage of the app is that it refers you directly to the control guidance sheets and you can therefore check the measures immediately on site.

However, the compact EMKG 3.0 app does not replace the documentation of the risk assessment or evaluation of the effectiveness of protective measures. For this purpose, you can use the EMKG Software 3.0.

The app is available as download for both iOS and Android operating systems:
Google Play Store
Apple App Store

The app is available in German and English. The language is set depending on the setting of your mobile device.
