Demographic change is driving a dramatic transformation in the age structure of the working population. The proportion of older employees on the labour market is increasing. If they wish to stay competitive, organisations consequently need to develop and implement new strategies and approaches. Firstly, it is imperative to maintain the performance of older workers for as long as possible. Secondly, working conditions should be adapted to take account of older employees’ changing needs.

This practical manual explains how to use the Later Life Workplace Index (LLWI), a validated measurement instrument for the conduct of self-assessments. In addition, it describes workplace measures that can help organisations successfully keep older employees involved in the work process over the long term.
