(in German)
This report presents methodology aspects regarding the telephone survey of the research project "Workplace bullying among the working population in Germany – a representative study". The report provides information on the methodology used, particularly with regard to the study design, the survey instrument, fieldwork, data preparation and weighting. The description of the methodology is based on the project-internal report of the market and social research institute USUMA GmbH.
The study was conducted by the Institute of Social Medicine, Occupational Medicine and Public Health (ISAP) of the Medical Faculty of Leipzig University in cooperation with the Institute and Polyclinic for Occupational and Social Medicine (IPAS) of the Technical University of Dresden, USUMA GmbH (Berlin) and with the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) between November 2022 and June 2024 on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS). As part of this study, a representative telephone survey was conducted.
The representative survey (survey period 31.08.2023 to 23.01.2024) is intended to investigate the prevalence of bullying among dependent employees within the general population in Germany, general working conditions, individual experiences and possible prevention and support services with a focus on bullying in the world of work. The main points to be considered are possible factors and corporate cultural aspects that encourage bullying. In addition, work-related framework conditions, protective factors and the health consequences of mobbing were examined.
The data collection for the representative survey was carried out using computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) via USUMA GmbH, an established market and social research institute. The total sample comprises 5,015 valid interviews. The corresponding scientific use file (SUF) is provided via the Research Data Centre of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (FDZ-BAuA) for use in scientific research projects.
