BAuA will continue its efforts in the four predetermined fields of activity and develop them further in a well-directed manner.
In its current Work and Research Programme, the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin, BAuA) has set out the activities it will concentrate on in its four main areas of responsibility, research and development, regulation, policy advice, and practice transfer, for the period from 2022 to 2025.
The structuring framework of the Programme is founded on four strategic action areas, each with its specific objectives, thematic priorities, and implementation measures. In this respect, particular attention will be devoted to the close linkage of the above-mentioned areas of responsibility, as well as cooperation between researchers working on different thematic fields and in BAuA's different divisions. This will also be reflected in the continuation of the interdisciplinary focus Safety and Health in the Digital World of Work, the substantive emphasis of which is on issues relating to artificial intelligence.
Another interdisciplinary focus, The Infection Control/OSH Interface, will see BAuA addressing developments and challenges that have been brought to light by the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and will also be of relevance once it is over.
In addition, the new Work and Research Programme outlines plans for the further development of the DASA Working World Exhibition (DASA Arbeitswelt Ausstellung), and explains the principles and working methods applied in BAuA's various areas of responsibility. At the same time the Programme also describes the main features of BAuA's organisational structure and its human resources priorities.
BAuA's activities during the 2022-2025 programme period will revolve around the following strategic action areas and focus programmes:
- Ensuring safe use of chemicals and products
- Human-centred work design
- Promotion of health and work ability - prevention of work-related diseases
- Understanding the impact of a changing work environment and advancing occupational safety and health instruments
- Focus: Safety and Health in the Digital World of Work
- Focus: The Infection Control/OSH Interface
