Description:
Chronic beryllium disease (CBD) is a granulomatous disorder and a perfect pheno-copy of sarcoidosis. Therefore misdiagnoses are easily possible. Germany has no uniform recommendations as to how occupational CBD should be diagnosed. A guideline for a standardised diagnostic procedure and a checklist with questions on typical occupational beryllium exposures are going to be developed for physicians.
