The German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin, BAuA) is a German federal departmental research institution dedicated to safety and health at work and human-centred work design. We are guided by and focussed on these fundamental principles in all our activities.
Our scientists advise the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Soziales, BMAS), the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz, nukleare Sicherheit und Verbraucherschutz, BMUV), and other political actors. We promote knowledge transfer to practitioners, carry out statutory and official functions, and participate in national, European, and international bodies that set rules, regulations, and standards.
The DASA Working World Exhibition carries out central education and communication activities, enabling us to share knowledge with a broad public.
We lay the foundations for the performance of these tasks by conducting quality-assured research and development work, which is completely independent and meets rigorous scientific quality standards. We pursue long-term research lines and are continually responding to new changes brought about by the evolution of work.
