Unit 1.2 Monitoring Working Conditions

An efficient monitoring system provides the basis for mapping changes in the world of work and the associated challenges for R&D as well as implementation activities. In the area of monitoring working conditions, the group prepares an annual work environment report on "Health and Safety at Work" (Sicherheit und Gesundheit bei der Arbeit, SuGA) on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Soziales). The brochure "A changing world of work", for example, which contains an extract of the basic data published in SuGA in simplified form, is derived from this report.

In addition, about every six years the group carries out an employment survey (BIBB/BAuA Employment Survey) in cooperation with the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (Bundesinstitut für Berufsbildung, BIBB). Here, 20,000 employees are interviewed by telephone on their work and vocational qualifications. The main topics for the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin, BAuA) in this survey are working conditions in a wide sense and health complaints.
