How does the CLP Regulation affect mixtures?
The entry into force of the CLP Regulation for the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures has resulted in new rules regarding the placing on the market. The impact on mixtures is especially strong. Here you can find out what you need to take into account when using hazardous mixtures or placing them on the market.
The CLP Regulation has been in force since the beginning of 2009 and has been applied to hazardous substances since the end of 2010. Mixtures have to be classified, labelled and packaged according to the CLP Regulation, since 1st June 2015, it has been necessary to also classify, label and package mixtures. The transition period for the sale of old stocks ended on 1st June 2017.
Until that date, the two previous regulations, the 67/548/EEC (Substances Directive) and the 1999/45/EC (Preparation Directive), have been replaced on a step-by-step basis by the CLP Regulation, and the associated guidelines have been revised and adapted.
However, the "old" labelling has not yet disappeared from all businesses. On the following pages we will inform you how to deal with this situation and what you have to do in order to classify and label mixtures according to the CLP.
