Guide to the filling of containers
The safe filling of organic liquids
Comparison of the effectiveness of an integrated extraction system and a manually operated suction system
When filling jerrycans, drums and intermediate bulk containers (IBC) with organic liquids, in accordance with the Process and Substance-specific Criteria (VSK), filling equipment is to be used in which the filling device and suction system are connected together. This can be achieved by a rigid connection between both units. The filling may only begin once the suction system has been activated.
This work method and the fulfilling of the additional requirements of the VSK make the completion of workplace measurements for the determination of inhalation exposure in the scope of the operational risk assessment superfluous.
With the example of the filling of an IBC, the video shows that an integrated system is significantly more effective than a suction system which is operated manually by the employee.
