Activities with hazardous substances

In addition to the Technical Regulations for Hazardous Substances (TRGS) and the Easy-to-use Workplace Control Scheme for Hazardous Substances (EMKG), we have compiled further advice for working with hazardous substances.

BAuA develops practically-oriented guidelines for occupational safety. In this way, we support companies and organisations in successfully implementing their risk assessment and in specifying appropriate protective measures for work involving hazardous substances. In addition to links to a range of substances databases, we have collated our own information on specific hazardous substances. You can find both of these under "Substances information".

According to the Hazardous Substances Ordinance, "Risk assessment may only be carried out by appropriately qualified personnel. If the employer does not have the necessary knowledge, he or she must seek professional advice." In this respect, we assist you by pointing you towards consulting services.

The goal of the Ordinance on Occupational Healthcare (ArbMedVV) is to identify at an early stage and to prevent work-related illnesses, including occupational diseases. Furthermore, occupational healthcare also aims to contribute to maintaining employability and to the further development of safety and health.
