Extended prevalidation study for examination of the toxic impact of substances effective via inhalation (gases) after direct exposition of human lung cells at the layer between air and liquid

  • Project number: F 2298
  • Institution: Contributiuons of Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) to the third-party funded project (Federal Ministry of Education and Research - BMBF) managed by Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine (ITEM), Hannover
  • Status: Completed Project

Description:

As a reference laboratory, Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) is contributing to a third-party funded project in a consortium with Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine (ITEM), Hannover, Federal Institute for Risk Assessment and Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research. The objective of the project is to develop methods for in vitro testing of acute inhalation toxicity of gases and vapours. To complete the prevalidation study finalized in 2009 (F 1835 - A85), tests shall be conducted with lung cells for additional test gases in the partner laboratories.
