Retrospective cohort study on the etiology of knee disorders caused by occupational risk factors considering their multifactorial origin

  • Project number: F 2281
  • Institution: Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) / National Research Centre for the Working Environment (NRCWE), Denmark
  • Status: Completed Project

Description:

The goal of the project is to investigate the multifactorial etiology of a selected musculoskeletal disease (osteoarthritis of the knee joint). For this purpose a secondary data analysis of the Danish Work Environment Cohort Study (DWECS) with register (inpatient register) follow-ups at the governmental National Research Centre for the Working Environment (NRCWE), Denmark will be conducted. The repeated measurements of the DWECS can help to contribute to the temporal sequence of individual risk factors like occupational exposure to squatting/kneeling, obestity and leisure time physical activity with knee pain and hospitalization due to osteoarthritis of the knee joint.
