The Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin, BAuA) is led jointly by its Presidium and its management team.
BAuA is structured with four scientific divisions: "Changing World of Work", "Products and Work Systems", "Work and Health", and "Hazardous Substances and Biological Agents". The "Federal Office for Chemicals", which performs official functions required by chemicals legislation, is also integrated into BAuA as one of its divisions. The Central Division ensures the Institute is administered efficiently. The DASA Working World Exhibition plays a special role, communicating the issues BAuA deals with to a wider public.
Three committees advise BAuA on quality assurance:
- The Advisory Board advises BAuA on fundamental issues and its long-term technical/scientific orientation.
- The main task of the Scientific Advisory Board is quality assurance in research and development, as well as networking activities with the scientific community.
- The DASA Advisory Board is at BAuA's disposal to provide technical advice on specific issues relating to the DASA Working World Exhibition. Key tasks of the DASA Advisory Board include advising the president of BAuA and the head of DASA.
