Unit 1.1 Working Time and Flexibilisation

Unit 1.1 conducts research on central issues of the organisation of working time, the flexibilisation of working time and place, and the effects of flexibilisation and digitalisation of work. The focus is on changing working conditions and possible risk and opportunities for safety and health at work. Unit 1.1 generates scientific findings for policy and practice and aims to contribute to the socio-political discourse on the future of work.

An important data basis is the BAuA working time survey, which is carried out by unit 1.1 as a panel survey every two years and provides a representative picture of the working hours in Germany.
Closely related are questions of technological change and the associated effects on working conditions, health and well-being of employees. These questions are also addressed empirically employing different employee surveys.
