Promoting accessibility in data collection on working conditions: Final report of a pilot study

(in German)

In February 2023, the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) commissioned the infas Institute for Applied Social Science to conduct the pilot study "Promoting accessibility in data collection on working conditions". The project sets out to close the information gap about the specific work situation (working conditions, operational framework conditions, indicators of well-being) of disabled people who are employed in the general labour market. The approach pursued in this project was twofold in terms of concept development and evaluation.

The objective of the pilot study was to develop an elaborate concept for a representative survey on the working conditions of disabled people in the labour market in Germany. The basic population for the study includes people with and without disabilities who are employed or self-employed in the general labour market. The main parts of the study address the development of an appropriate sampling concept and an accessible data collection approach as well as the wide-ranging questionnaire.

The evaluative assessment of the study concept primarily addresses the quality and feasibility of the sampling concept as well as the testing and examination of the content-related comprehensibility and fieldwork capability of the survey instrument with the core target group of the survey. Building on these pilot results, the feasibility of a planned main study is finally classified and assessed, taking into account possible risks (particularly with regard to accessibility).
