Development and testing of approaches for use of digital regulations within the occupational health and safety
- Project number: F 2603
- Institution: Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA)
- Status: Ongoing Project
- Planned end: 2029-12-31
Description:
Digital solutions are useful for developing, providing, and applying technical rules. This applies both to rule-making in the occupational safety committees at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and to their application in companies, as well as to consulting and enforcement.
In the area of standardisation, DIN / DKE has developed the "Digital Smart Standards" concept. It was applied in the BAuA research project F 2542 for the component-oriented and machine-executable preparation of workplace law. A methodology was developed for the step-by-step development of machine-readable and machine-executable test rules. Based on the existing approaches and findings, a concept study will be conducted to examine the extent to which the "Digital Smart Standards" approach can be transferred to other areas of the occupational health and safety regulations and rules.
The entire process from creation to management, provision and operational application of rules for various application contexts will be considered. Requirements in occupational health and safety regulations and rules must be taken into account in particular when employers carry out risk assessments. The project will examine how digitally prepared occupational health and safety requirements can be implemented in concepts for digital risk assessment and in data models.
The results will be systematically compiled and evaluated. Based on this, concrete recommendations for action will be formulated. The aim is to make the rules clearer and more user-friendly, to make the creation and further development of the rules more efficient, and to support their provision as well as their broad and high-quality implementation in practice.
