The Roadmap on Carcinogens (RoC) is a voluntary, European action scheme of stakeholders from occupational safety and health to fight occupational cancer.
The RoC network reaches and activates representatives from workplace practice (workers' and employers' organisations) and workplace prevention, as well as governmental institutions and authorities of the European Member States, e.g. EU-OSHA and the EU Commission. Building on the success of the first project phase (2016-2019), the RoC was extended for a second project phase (2020-2024). Currently, 14 partners are working together in projects of the RoC.
Since 2020, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) has taken over the management of the RoC together with the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), which has been commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Labour. The Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) supports the management of the RoC. BAuA is involved in the project work as well as in the elaboration of practical solutions and factsheets.
The initiative pursues four main aims, defined as the following pillars of the strategy.
- Raising Awareness
- Providing Help
- Mobilising Stakeholders
- Targeting Innovation
