For hazardous substances, the performance of a risk assessment required by the Safety and Health at Work Act is defined in the Hazardous Substances Ordinance (GefStoffV). Hazards through inhalation, skin contact, and fire and explosions are assessed. The risk assessment is completed if replacement solutions have been checked, and the required company-internal measures designed to protect the employees and third parties as well as the efficiency verification process are defined. The result of the risk assessment must be documented. The approach for deriving the hazard and the measures resulting thereof is specified in the Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances (TRGS 400).
Please note: The hazard factor “physical-chemical hazards” (e.g. fire and explosion hazards, uncontrolled chemical reactions) is not addressed within the framework of this booklet.
