Risk Assessment with Key Indicator Method (KIM)
The key indicator methods belong to the screening methods.
There are forms with instructions and partially integrated calculation aids for the types of physical workload Lifting/Holding/Carrying, Pushing/Pulling, and Manual work processes. Currently, additional key indicator methods are being developed for the types of physical workload Whole-body forces, Body movement, and Forced posture of the body.
The key indicator methods were developed under the direction of the BAuA. Currently, they do not yet include all forms of physical physical workload. The existing methods are available in different formats and have been translated in many languages. The key indicator methods belong to the screening methods, but require good knowledge of the workstations to be assessed. They allow for identifying flaws regarding the organisation of the work and provide information regarding measures with the power of reducing the risk of adverse health effects.
