Practical help for correct and complete information in safety data sheets
It is not always easy to follow the guidelines for data sheets or to find specific wordings. For this reason, we are pleased to provide you with templates and blank forms.
According to Article 31, Paragraph 9 of Directive (EC) no. 1907/2006, safety data sheets can continue to be used which are provided to a buyer before 1st June 2015. Until 31st May 2017, they do not have to fulfil the Annex of Regulation 2015/830 (Article 2 of the Regulation (EU) no. 2015/830.
What the legislation requires at a theoretical level is not always easy to implement in practice. Sometimes the person responsible for compiling a data sheet lacks the required or desirable information. There can also be uncertainties surrounding the required level of detail and correct wording. In addition: The extent to which the person who compiles the safety data sheet finds them effective and relevant also depends on their educational level, point of view and reading customs.
The following "templates" for safety data sheets do not make any claim to be the only conceivable or correct version. For those compiling safety data sheets, they are to be understood as a suggestion, and should encourage the readers of safety data sheets to request supplementary information from their suppliers if required.
A further tip: The blank forms should be used in the context of the annex to Regulation (EU) no. 2015/830 of the Commission dating from 28th May 2015 (the annotated safety data sheet templates and the European standard phrase catalogue EuPHraC for the compilation of EU safety data sheets).
