Cardiovascular diseases include all of the diseases of the heart and circulatory system. They are commonplace and become increasingly prevalent with age. Despite successes in prevention and treatment, CVDs remain the leading cause of death in Germany according to the Robert Koch Institute. Against the backdrop of demographic change and longer working lives, these diseases are becoming increasingly important in the field of occupational health. Possibilities for prevention entail considering both non-occupational and occupational factors.
