Organisation of Tomorrow's Occupational Safety and Health

Contemporary development to ensure safety and health at work

The changing world of work is accompanied by new requirements and stress factors for workers. It also alters the circumstances of existing structures and instruments of occupational safety and health, both in the workplace and on an industry-wide basis.

The changing world of work also affects occupational safety and health. Digitalisation, globalisation and increasing flexibilisation raise new issues for workplace and industry actors in occupational safety and health. As a result, there is a need to refine existing structures and measures in occupational safety and health and to provide appropriate training to those involved. The Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) addresses the following issues:

  • How must the system of occupational safety and health in Europe and Germany develop further in order to ensure that the economy retains its capacity for innovation and competitiveness while also guaranteeing the safety and health of workers?
  • What changes in capabilities, instruments and action strategies do occupational safety and health actors need?
  • What capabilities do managers, representative bodies and workers need in order to make work in the digital world safe, healthy and appropriate to the needs of humans?

The further development of occupational safety and health is based on studying effect relationships and evaluating complex interventions in occupational safety and health.
