Safety has top priority in the European single market
Chemicals and products must be safe, both intrinsically and during use. This is the basic requirement for safe working. Countless regulations and measures are intended to maintain and further improve the high level of protection on the EU domestic market.

It is therefore essential to exclude products, work equipment, chemicals or materials from use, i.e. from the European single market, if they present unacceptable risks.
For products and work equipment, harmful effects can be prevented through suitable product design and construction. For chemicals and materials, harmful effects can be prevented through strictly regulated and effective protective measures that ensure safe handling.
