Requirements from the Act on the Electromagnetic Compatibility of Equipment (EMVG)
The purpose of this act is to ensure that an electrical device does not interfere with other electrical equipment, and that it is sufficiently protected from external electromagnetic interference.
The Act on the Electromagnetic Compatibility of Equipment is intended to implement Directive 2004/108/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 December 2004 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to electromagnetic compatibility.

Directive 89/336/EEC has been repealed by directive 2004/108/EC, which must be applied from 20 July 2007.
This law applies to the provision, transmission, issuing, commissioning and operation of equipment which may cause electromagnetic disturbances or whose operation can be impaired by these disturbances, irrespective of their nominal voltage.
The object of the Act is the electromagnetic compatibility of devices and systems. They must be designed and manufactured in such a way that:
