Authorised biocidal Products

Information on biocidal products that are already authorised or in the decision-making process

We inform you about biocidal products that may be made available on the German market and that may be used while a decision-making process is ongoing. This is also where you will find the Database of authorised biocidal Products (in German).

Biocidal products may be made available on the German market and used in the following cases:

  • on the basis of transitional measures (Article 89(2) of Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 (Biocidal Products Regulation) in conjunction with the Biocide Notification Ordinance);
  • during an ongoing decision-making process regarding an application for authorisation or mutual recognition in parallel (Article 89(3) subparagaph 2 of the Biocidal Products Regulation in conjunction with section 28(8) subparagraph 3 of the German Chemicals Act);
  • if they are already authorised (Article 17(1) of the Biocidal Products Regulation).

Transitional measures

Information on biocidal products that may be made available on the market and used on the basis of the transitional arrangements is compiled in the relevant section for the Biocide Notification Ordinance (ChemBiozidMeldeV).

Ongoing decision-making process

In addition, there are biocidal products that may be made available on the market and used during an ongoing decision-making process regarding an application for authorisation or mutual recognition in parallel. These are compiled in a list, which we have made available to you on this page.

Authorised biocidal products

A database provides detailed information on authorised biocidal products in Germany in accordance with the Biocidal Products Regulation.

This database contains administrative information, e.g. trade names, authorisation numbers and authorisation holders and it contains information relating to use, e.g. target organisms and users of the individual biocidal products.

Biocidal products for which an authorisation or registration has been issued under the Biocidal Products Directive 98/8/EC can continue to be made available on the market and used in accordance with the conditions set out in Article 92(1) of the Biocidal Products Regulation. These are also included in the database.

However, biocidal products of product-type 8 (Wood preservatives) and product-type 14 (Rodenticides) are currently not included in the database. Instead, corresponding information on authorised wood preservatives and rodenticides can be found in separate lists, which are available in German language on our German website.
