International Affairs, Scientific Cooperation
The aim of the staff unit "International Affairs, Scientific Cooperation" is to strengthen and to develop further the technical and strategic collaborations of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin - BAuA) with the scientific community and occupational safety and health networks on a national, European and international level.
The focus is on
- establishing and cultivating scientific collaborations with universities and research institutes,
- external representation and cooperation of the BAuA in committees, expert associations and in the European occupational safety and health network,
- management and coordination of the German focal point of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA),
- supporting the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Soziales - BMAS) in the strategic further development of targets in the area of occupational safety and health on a European and international level.
The "International Affairs and Scientific Cooperation" team also leads the office of the BAuA's Ethics Commission.
The BAuA's Ethics Commission was set up on the recommendation of the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat) and exclusively assesses BAuA research projects that do not belong to the field of responsibility of a medical ethics committee.
