Process Lead REACH Assessment Unit OSH

Within the scope of the REACH Regulation, Division 4 of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) is the "Assessment Unit for Occupational Safety and Health of Workers" (or "REACH Assessment Unit OSH" for short). The Assessment Unit is managed by the Process Lead REACH Assessment Unit OSH.

As the "Assessment Unit for Occupational Safety and Health of Workers" ("REACH Assessment Unit OSH" for short) within the scope of the statutory tasks under the REACH Regulation, the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health is responsible for developing and promoting measures to protect workers during the handling of chemicals. The tasks are established in Division 4 and distributed as a process across the expert units. The most suitable instrument for hazardous substances management is selected under consideration of exposure to substances and their toxicological evaluation, as well as socio-economic aspects. The process is organised by the Process Lead REACH Assessment Unit OSH.

This includes the following topic areas:

  • harmonised classification and labelling;
  • authorisation requirement;
  • restriction;
  • dossier evaluation;
  • substance evaluation;
  • the REACH-CLP-Biozid Helpdesk, including

    • responding to queries,
    • advising companies on REACH,
    • information events.
