Division 1 Policy Issues and Programmes

Division 1 'Policy Issues and Programmes' acts as an interface to the political sector. It is the contact point for different thematic enquiries from the political arena, primarily the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS), It supports the specialised supervision and the board of trustees. Within this context, it is particularly responsible for future-orientated challenges in the fields of safety and health at work that result from changes in the working world.

The units 'Changing World of Work' and 'Monitoring Working Conditions' cover the key issues regarding this responsibility. The "Changing World of Work" unit deals with developments in the social and working world that have an impact on the load on and stress levels of workers during their career. The "Monitoring Working Conditions" group provides reliable, empirical data for the development of concepts of future areas of activity.
The two 'programme units' - the secretariat of the Initiative New Quality of Work (INQA) and the Joint German Occupational Safety and Health Strategy (GDA) - have access to this technical expert knowledge and the findings from research carried out by the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA), which can be used for implementing intervention projects and for programme development. The relevant topics are directly forwarded to the 'political' action level due to consulting by the INQA and GDA secretariats. The Minimum Wage Commission, established by the Federal Government, is supported organisationally and scientifically by its secretariat and information office. The activities of the department fit into the research, development and technology transfer activities of the BAuA, as the department is part of the research and development programme and a partner for implementation.
