Prevention for safe and healthy working with digital technologies

Analysis of a modified stress/strain profile from an OSH perspective

Project number: F 2424 Institution: Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) Status: Ongoing Project Planned end: 2020-09-30

Starting with a detailed analysis of stress at work due to a progressing digitalization the research project PräDiTec aims to develop specific prevention measures for working in a digitalized workplace. Taking into account possible individual and cultural differences, work should be organized so that the use of digital systems avoids psychological stress. Consequently methods are being developed, to help employees to deal with the increasing digitalization in the best way possible.

The Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) supports the overall project from an OSH perspective. A key aspect is the identification and evaluation of the stress and resource profile of new digital technologies with the goal of a humane work and technology design. With respect to the prevention methods to be developed, the BAuA focusses on the twin aspects of learnability of the used technologies, and participation in rollout and training. Throughout the project the BAuA particularly focuses on the uncertainty aspects of handling due to continuous development and unreliability of digital technology.

This research and development project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) (funding number 02L16D034) and managed by the Project Management Agency Karlsruhe (PTKA).
