On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) has developed a work-related monitoring system ("demowanda") in cooperation with five other governmental research institutes (Federal Institute for Population Research, Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training, German Centre of Gerontology, Institute for Employment Research, Robert Koch Institute). Regarding the increasing realisation that a broad perspective on the social reality is necessary to meet complex challenges such as the demographic change. This means departmental research has to realign its policy consultation switching from an one-dimensional/departmental towards a multidimensional/interdepartmental procedure. With demowanda.de the Federal Government initiated such a pilot project within the context of monitoring the working world. Being realized as a website the monitoring provides easy access to information giving a factual interdisciplinary overview of social developments within the context of demographic change and work environment. It should mainly serve scientists, journalists, associations and politicians as a basis for information, discussion and decision-making when dealing with this topic area.
After being realized the web-based monitoring should now be evaluated in terms of a quality-assured knowledge transfer. The intention is to evaluate the product (the website demowanda.de) and its use as well as the development process. On the one hand it aims to gain knowledge whether the website reaches the addressed target groups and fulfils their expectations on information. On the other hand the evaluation of the whole process (contract, project consortium for-mation, cooperation) aims to identify potential improvements and recommendations for implementing interdepartmental cooperation projects in the future.
