Evaluation of the work-related monitoring system "demowanda"

Project number: F 2423 Institution: Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) Status: Ongoing Project Planned end: 2021-09-30

To meet complex challenges like demographic change, a broad perspective on social reality is necessary. Therefore, policy advice in this context should no longer be limited to only one department. Hence, the German Federal Government has initiated an interdepartmental monitoring pilot project. On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS), the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) has developed the work-related monitoring system "demowanda" in cooperation with five other governmental research institutes (Federal Institute for Population Research, Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training, German Centre of Gerontology, Institute for Employment Research, Robert Koch Institute).

The demowanda website provides easy access to information on social developments that must be taken into account in order to overcome demographic challenges in the world of work. Its main purpose is to create a platform for scientists, journalists, associations and politicians dealing with this subject area - facilitating information, discussion and decision-making.

This project evaluates demowanda in terms of a quality-assured knowledge transfer. Firstly, the aim is to gain knowledge about whether the website reaches its target groups and satisfies their information requirements. Secondly, the evaluation reflects the website’s development process - from the initial assignment through establishing the consortium to the cooperation among the institutes during the project term. The evaluation uses different survey methods (document analysis, online user survey, guideline interviews and web statistics). The collected data will be analysed and summarized in an evaluation report.

The project aims at identifying potential improvements for web-based information transfer on the subject of demography and the world of work. Furthermore, recommendations for future cooperation projects will be derived, focusing on requirements of interdepartmental cooperation.
