In cattle farming, the regular claw trimming is required. Upon the occurrence of diseases antibiotic-containing sprays are used for the treatment.
The antibiotic load of the hoof carers with antibiotics at this activity is examined with biological monitoring, the analyses of the antibiotic in urine. The exposure conditions at the workplace and the work processes are recorded and documented simultaneously.
Based on these studies, the antibiotic load on the hoof trimmer can be objectified. Protective measures and conclusions for occupational medical surveillance can be drawn.
