Analyses of occupational diseases of the musculo-skeletal system in Germany by gender
The aim is to describe frequent occupational diseases of the musculoskeletal system in Germany (occupational diseases no. 2108, 2102, 2105, 2103, and 2112) based on data from the German Social Accident Insurance for the Industrial and Public Sectors regarding available characteristics. Occupations with a high risk potential are identified in order to identify potentials for prevention and research needs. Methodologically this project is a cross sectional analysis based on secondary data (cumulative figures in a 10-year period). Because of horizontal and vertical segregation in the work force the data are stratified by gender. The numbers of recognized occupational diseases of the occupations with the highest risks are related to the number of insured employees with social security contributions for the estimation of the incidence. The intended analyses go beyond the regular German reports on occupational safety and health (SuGA).
