(in German)

Noise at the workplace can not only damage hearing, but may also have many other negative effects. One of these effects, which may arise in situations with background noise even at moderate sound pressure levels, is a detrimental effect on cognitive performance. The current article is dealing with the effects of unwanted sounds on reading, as one example for an activity which is relevant for many occupational settings. First, findings from several previous studies on this topic are summarised. In the second part, results from a pilot study on the effects of unwanted background speech on proofreading are reported. For this study, a reading task was employed that has been designed with regard to an occupational context.
