Description:
The number of people who are in need of care will strongly increase in the next decade based on the demographic change in Germany. Beside a growing demand in home care, an increase in partly inpatient nursing and care services can be observed. Most likely, partly inpatient care will take an important role in the transition from home care services to entering a nursing home for the elderly. Day care services provide the possibility for older people to have access to medical care and social activities during the day while they can go back to their homes at the end of the day.
The goal of the study is to determine the present and future demand for partly inpatient nursing and care services and to compare the different organizational structures. Furthermore, the study will explore the occupational health and safety situation and will compile a manual for the implementation of a safe and health-promoting work environment. A special focus of the study is on interactive processes between the nurses and clients, including recommended qualification and training for the nurses and caregivers. Based on a comparison between the different nursing and care facilities, the results of the study will include possible generalizations concerning the implementation of a safe and health-promoting work design. The results will be illustrated in a manual.
