New approaches to the costs-benefits-analysis of occupational safety and health
Five years ago, in a preliminary "discussion among economic experts" on the subject of "new approaches to establishing the economics costs resulting from working accidents and work-related illnesses", a series of research projects was drafted which in the mean time have been completed. The research results which as a rule are expounded by those working on the research project, should be assessed in co-operation with a group of other experts from the areas of economy and occupational safety and health. This should serve not only to implement the research results and their scientific dissemination but also to specifically determine the necessity for further research. With this invitation to the expert discussion it is hoped that the participants will also take a critical look at the potential capacity and representation of costs and benefits in occupational safety and health. Over the last few years it has become increasingly evident that cost benefit and cost effectiveness analysis can be considered as a directive.
