New developments in profession orientation for pupils

Lots of representatives of the ministries of education and work, members of different enterprises, teachers as well as professionals of vocational education discussed about new perspectives and possibilities of profession orientation with reference to the new German Job-AQTIV-statute and other new regulations concerning the profession-oriental-phase. With regard to the question, how the new decade of globalisation had changed the demands on qualifications and skills, the statements of the participants showed one thing very impressive: there are lots of very promising beginnings to improve the very important phase of profession-orientation. On the other hand there is a lot to do concerning the advice and assistance of the pupils in their orientation on the job. For the future success it seems to be necessary, that the involved institutions - the enterprises, the schools, the labour-office - create a kind of network and support each other more than in the past. In the following debate the participants discussed about educational politics, the PISA-study, the further development of cooperation from schools, enterprises and Labour Exchange and the consequences of the changes in labour world for the system of education.
