Education and training of occupational physicians
Primary goal of occupational medicine is the protection of workers' health. Optimal workforce management proves to be a key element of modern enterprise strategy in global competition. Under the influence of European legislation, workplace health promotion gains increasing influence and acceptance. For efficient occupational health practice in a thoroughly changed working environment of recent years, a modernization and adaptation of occupational health education and training is necessary to meet current demands and requirements.
The publication is based on a project workshop, relating the results of recent research at the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health on continuing education in occupational medicine to the public, that gave rise to presenting an overview of present initiatives and discussions on education and training in occupational medicine among German stakeholders and at European level.
