WHO Collaborating Centres (WHO-CC)
BAuA has been a WHO Collaborating Centre in Occupational Health (WHO-CC) for a long time. The re-designation as WHO-CC has to be applied every four years. At the end of 2008, BAuA has been confirmed as WHO-CC again.
With this appointment BAuA has agreed upon certain duties including the participation in the network of collaborating centres (CC), the implementation of the WHO Global Plan of Action for Workers' Health (GPA), the information exchange of projects that fit in the respective WHO work programme and the provision of annual reports of activities.
Aims of the WHO-CC network are communication, networking and cooperation. BAuA benefits from valuable contacts as well as the possibility to disseminate its research results on international level. The successful cooperation in the PRIMA-EF project is only one example.
In the current period (2008 - 2012) BAuA's contributions are:
- ProMenPol (Promoting and Protecting Mental Health, EU project under the 6th Framework Programme)
- IGNIS (Income generation and climate by valorising municipal solid wastes in a sustainable way in emerging megacities, project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research)
- PRIMA-EF (Psychosocial Risk Management - European Framework, EU project under the 6th Framework Programme)
- Non-binding guide to prevention and good practice in hospitals and the healthcare sector (EU project in the framework of PROGRESS)
- Compendium on hearing conservation for professionals in music- and entertainment sector (BAuA project)
- Development of a compendium for the application of ergonomic design criteria (BAuA project)
- Examination of the stress of the lumbar spine (BAuA project).
