International Social Security Association (ISSA)

The mission of the ISSA, with its headquarters in Geneva, is "to participate by means of international collaboration (…) in the promotion and development of social security throughout the world in order to improve the social and economic circumstances of people on the basis of social justice."

In the ISSA's individual international prevention sections the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) has for many years been actively involved in the section on "Education and Training for Prevention". Starting with a kick-off seminar in Strasbourg in 2001, the work of the section was presented in three seminars with an appreciation in each case in the form of a concluding document: in 2003 with the Québec City Protocol for the integration of occupational health and safety competencies into vocational and technical education, in 2006 with the Berlin Declaration for the development of a culture of prevention in health and safety and in 2009 with the charter of Lisbon intended to accompany young workers as they enter the world of work.

This completes a theme and work cycle "From school to work". The Federal Institute works actively in the working group 5 of the same name.
