The Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) - Federal Office for Chemicals / Authorisation of Biocides is the DNA (Designated National Authority) for the implementation of Regulation (EC) No 689/2008.

Under the PIC procedure (Prior Informed Consent), and the CFC (Chlorine-Fluorine-Carbons) procedure in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 2037/2000 the BAuA carries out the relevant notification procedures and has the duty to report to the European Commission.

Such tasks are also allotted to it under the POP (Persistent Organic Pollutants) procedure. The Federal Office for Chemicals takes part in the meetings of the CRC (Chemical Review Committee) of the Rotterdam Convention and in the COPs (Conferences of the Parties) of the Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions.

In addition, the Federal Office for Chemicals participates in SLIC Chemex (Senior Labour Inspectorates Committee Working Group for Chemical Monitoring), the Working Party on International Environmental Issues (WIPEI) and in SAIC (Strategic Approach on International Chemicals Management).
